Nazliah offers to stand for Puteri Umno vice-head post

KOTA KINABALU (Sept 9, 2013): Tawau Puteri Umno head Nazliah Ali today offered to stand for the post of Puteri vice-head in the party election in October.

The decision to stand for election was to help strengthen Umno, which forms the pillar of the national administration together with the Barisan Nasional (BN), so that the party would continue to be relevant in championing the cause of young women in the country, she said in a statement here.

The post of Puteri Umno vice-head would be vacant as incumbent Shahanim Mohd Yusuf had exceeded the age limit to remain in Puteri Umno.

With the announcement, there are now three candidates from Sabah contesting for posts in Puteri Umno at the national level, including Kudat Puteri Umno head Normala Rasik and Beluran Puteri Umno head Julie Sabran who are vying for Puteri Umno Exco posts.

Nazliah, who has a Bachelor of Marine Science degree from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and was a former officer with the Special Affairs Department (Jasa) Tawau, also announced her intention to defend her post as Tawau Puteri Umno head. – Bernama
