M'sian woman in security breach presumably without ID

SINGAPORE (Jan 22, 2014): A Malaysian who was detained for allegedly crashing through a security barrier at the foreign affairs ministry on Monday, had driven her car through both the Malaysian and Singapore checkpoints at Woodlands, presumably without any identification document.
The 28-year-old divorcee who married in 2011, is from Kampung Baharu, Bukit Jenun in Pendang, Kedah. She has been detained at the Tanglin police station.
Malaysia High Commissioner to Singapore, Datuk Husni Zai Yaacob said high commission officers visited her after they were notificed by the Singapore police.
"Her parents in Pendang have been notified by the high commission," he told Bernama when asked to comment on the development of the incident.
Husni Zai said the suspect had gatecrashed into the Singapore Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) complex and disappeared without a trace in Singapore for three days, despite a nationwide police alert to track her down.
Upon her arrest, the Singapore police did not find any incriminating evidence or material on the woman who was currently warded at the Tan Tock Seng Hospital for observation, he added.
"Our officers have visited Nurul to ensure her well-being and tried to communicate with her. So far, she has refused to speak to anyone.
"She is said to have suffered mental problems. We do not have details on that. Her family is now making preparations to visit her," he said, adding that she had also refused to speak to her parents through the telephone.
According to Husni Zai, the suspect was not stopped either by Malaysian or Singapore authorities at the Woodlands checkpoint.
"She passed through the Malaysian checkpoint without any problem, while she crashed through the security barrier at the Singapore CIQ," he said, adding that the high commission would give the suspect the necessary consular assistance to ensure her rights and well-being were protected. – Bernama
