M'sian woman caught trying to smuggle heroin into S'pore

    SINGAPORE (Jan 26, 2014): A Malaysian woman was arrested by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) on Saturday while attempting to smuggle 937 grammes of heroin inside her underwear into Singapore.
    Local newspaper, the Straits Times (ST) reported the authority as saying that three men suspected of trafficking drugs, were also arrested in a follow-up operation conducted that day.
    It said at 8.10pm that day, Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officers stopped a Malaysian-registered car that was entering Singapore with two passengers at the car arrival zone of the Woodlands Checkpoint. They were referred to the CNB for checks.
    When two female CNB officers conducted a search on a female Malaysian passenger, they found two bundles of heroin hidden in the 22-year-old's underwear.
    The seized drugs have a street value of about S$98,000.
    ST reported that later that night, CNB officers arrested three Singaporean men, aged between 44 and 57, near Telok Blangah. They were suspected of trafficking drugs in Singapore, and one of them was believed to be the leader of the syndicate.
