SUBANG JAYA (Jan 27, 2014): Motorists on the North-South Expressway and other PLUS operated highways can now turn to a new smart application which will help them have a smoother journey.
Highway concessionaire PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) today introduced its PLUS Mobile Apps, a smart application which enables the highway operator to disseminate the latest highway traffic information faster, easier and accurately to motorists with smartphones and tablets.
"The PLUS Mobile Apps is a one-stop application which notifies highway users of the latest traffic updates such as accidents, traffic congestion, road maintenance works.
"It also offers highway users a toll fare calculator, current traffic images at selected highway stretches and rest areas, facilities, locations of service stations, ATMs and interactive highway maps," PLUS managing director Datuk Noorizah Abd Hamid said at a media briefing on the new application and the company's preparation in view of the expected traffic increase during the Chinese New Year holidays.
The PLUS Mobile Apps can be downloaded for free through the "App Store" for iPhone/iPad users or "Google Play store" for users with Android.
"The new application is an added value addition to the existing PLUS traffic communication channels which include electronic boards, the PLUSTrafik Twitter service, the 1800 88 0000 PLUSLine and radio stations," said Noorizah.
She also urged the public to plan their "balik kampung" travel for Chinese New Year based on the PLUS Travel Time Advisory (TTA) which has proven to contribute to smoother traffic flow during peak periods in the past.
Vehicles with registration plates ending in odd numbers for all routes via the Johor Causeway, Secondlink and Penang Bridge are advised to enter the highway at odd hours such as 9am, 1pm and 7pm while those ending in even numbers should start off at 10am, 2pm, 8pm and so on.
Noorizah said PLUS expects traffic on the North-South Expressway will increase by 25% to 1.5 million vehicles per day during the Chinese New Year holidays compared to 1.2 million vehicles on normal days.
Further details on the TTA may be obtained at the toll-free PLUSline 1800-88-0000 or PLUSTrafik Twitter page.
