Comply with EC's rules on Kajang by-election: Shafie Apdal

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 6, 2014): Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal has called on all quarters to comply with the regulations stipulated by the Election Commission (EC) in the Kajang state by-election next month.
This included not resorting to the use of moral issues and lewd video clips to garner the support of the voters, he told reporters here.
Shafie, who is the Minister of Rural and Regional Development, said there should be effective enforcement of all rules pertaining to the by-election. EC chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof had said the commission would monitor the election campaign and requested that there be no element of provocation during that period.
The EC had set March 11 for nomination and March 23 for polling in the by-election, necessitated by the sudden resignation of the assemblyman, Lee Chin Cheh of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), on Jan 27.
On another matter, Shafie said the Pakatan Rakyat government in Selangor should focus on administering the state well and not ruin it.
"Don't mess it up. We are having this (Kajang) by-election not because of us.
They must resolve the people's problems," he said when dismissing a request by Seputeh MP Teresa Kok to watch the 'Onederful Malaysia' video she had produced in conjunction with the Chinese New Year. – Bernama
