Woman dies in snatch theft incident

    IPOH (Feb 9, 2014): A woman who was a victim of snatch theft died after she fell off her motorcycle in the incident in Slim River, about 70 kilometres south of here, yesterday.
    The victim M. Shemavarthini, 26, died at the Slim River hospital at 5.02pm due to serious head injuries. Tanjung Malim police chief Supt Othman Nanyan said in the 4.30pm incident, the victim was riding to the same hospital to fetch home an aunt who worked as a cleaner there.
    "A man on a motorcycle who had tailed her grabbed her gold "thali" (necklace given by groom's family to the bride in a Hindu weeding) worth about about RM5,000 and the action caused her lose control and fall off her motorcyle.
    "Her helmet came off and her head hit the concrete sidewalk," he told Bernama.
    He added that police had launched a manhunt for the suspect. – Bernama
