KUALA LUMPUR: A one-stop tourist information and service centre, known as the "Visit KL Concierge", opened today at the entrance of the Kuala Lumpur City Walk, along Jalan P. Ramlee, here, to give tourists an improved experience of the city.
KL Mayor Datuk Seri Ahmad Phesal Talib said the RM450,000-centre, set up by KL City Hall (DBKL) and Agate Group (M) Sdn Bhd, not only provided tourists with information on tourism but also offered ticketing facilities for public transport including airlines, hotels, shows and tour packages.
"The 'Visit KL Concierge' will be a very important contact point for tourists when they enter the city as it is committed to serving the needs of visitors as effectively as possible, including providing ideas on how to get the best out of their stay in KL," he said when launching the centre.
Apart from helping to improve the experience of tourists, he said, it also contributed to the local economy, including job and business opportunities, since it also housed foreign currency exchange facilities, handicraft and souvenir stalls as well as car rental services.
He said the centre, which opens daily from 9am to 10pm, will also play an important role in tourism marketing and leveraging the tourism benefits to all players in the industry since it exposed them to local and foreign tourists.
These include bed and breakfast establishments, guesthouses, small, medium and micro-sized enterprises, attraction operators, booking agencies and tour agencies, he said. – Bernama
