Others could be victimised like me, says Teresa

GEORGE TOWN: Seputeh MP Teresa Kok (pix) fears that other politicians will be victimised if threats that she has been receiving is not taken seriously by authorities.
"If such threats on me do not stop, I fear that other politicians will be targeted and do the same thing to them as they are doing to me now. If no action is taken against those behind these attacks, it will encourage them to continue and maybe even do worse things.
"Look at Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar, who found her office premises littered with broken eggshells in 2012 and just last month, PKR strategic director Rafizi Ramli was mobbed by a group of men claiming to be a Malay-rights NGO group after he refused to chat with them," Kok told theSun today.
On Wednesday night, Kok, who has been in the spotlight after a NGO group placed a RM1,200 slap bounty on her over her Onederful Malaysia video, had just finished her speech in Taman Cermai, Permatang Pauh, when she was approached by a 25-year-old man who wanted to shake her hand.
The youth smashed an egg on her extended hand before he was surrounded by angry Pakatan Rakyat (PR) supporters who handed him over to the police.
"I think the man could be mentally unstable," Kok said when asked if the man wanted to put a charm on her.
Penang CID chief SAC Mazlan Kesah said the suspect, who was detained in the 11.45pm incident, had been released on police bail after his statement was recorded.
"We have recorded his statement and investigations are ongoing under Section 160 for affray," he told theSun.
The offense carries a maximum six-month prison sentence and a maximum RM1,000 fine if convicted.
