No information on wreckage of flight MH370, public urged not to speculate

SEPANG: The Transport Ministry has not received any information on the wreckage of flight MH370 being found off Vietnam, Acting transport minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein (pix) said today.
He said Royal Malaysian Navy ships have been deployed in the area where the plane lost contact with Subang air traffic control at 1.30am.
He said Malaysian is in contact in China, the Philippines, and Vietnam to help locate the plane.
Hishammuddin urged the public not speculate on the flight which went missing early this morning.
He said speculation that the plane has landed in Nanning airport in China or that wreckage has been found off the waters of Vietnam are untrue.
"All this speculation is baseless. We are being transparent. We want all information have been verified, correct and coordinated among all relevant agencies," he told a press conference here in Sepang.
He also noted that Malaysian Airlines have been in contact with 80% of families of the 38 Malaysians who were on the flight.

The Boeing 777-200 was carrying 227 passengers, including two infants from 13 different nationalities, as well as 12 crew members.
The flight left the Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 12.40am and was to arrive in Beijing at 6.30am today.
Hishammuddin added that a press conference will be held every two hours to provide latest updates on the incident.
