Pestech bags RM282m contract in Cambodia

PETALING JAYA: Integrated electric power technology provider Pestech International Bhd has bagged a contract worth US$86.065 million (RM282 million), to construct a 198km transmission line for the transmission of power from existing and future power plants in the Sihanoukville area to Phnom Penh City, Cambodia.
Pestech's wholly-owned Cambodian subsidiary, Pestech (Cambodia) Ltd, had last Friday executed an agreement with Alex Corp Co. Ltd.
Pestech Cambodia will undertake the design, engineering, manufacturing, installation, testing and commissioning of the 230kV (kilovolt) West Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville transmission line, as well as the 230/115/22kV substation extension project.
"This is done through upgrading of existing Stung Hav substation with two numbers of 230kV outgoing transmission line bays and connecting them to the West Phnom Penh substation in Phnom Penh through the new transmission line to be construction under the project," said Pestech.
The project is anticipated to commence within three months from the date of the contract, while the construction of the project is expected to be completed within 32 months from the commencement date, Pestech added.
Alex Corp, a Cambodian multi-faceted business entity, had on Nov 12, 2013 signed a 25-year power transmission agreement with Electricité du Cambodge, a wholly state-owned limited liability company responsible for the generation, transmission and distribution of power supply throughout the country.
