KUALA LUMPUR: Water consumption at nine areas in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya has dropped to 331 million litres per day (LPD) due to water rationing.
Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) in a statement today said at present the overall water consumption was 4,369 million LPD compared to about 4,700 million previously.
The first and third stage of the water rationing plan were implemented following the Selangor government's decision to limit the supply of untreated water from the Selangor river dam.
The plan was also implemented because of the closure of the Cheras Batu 11 and Bukit Tampoi treatment plants due to contamination.
However, water would still be delivered to the areas in emergency situations such as a death or prayer gatherings or to dialysis centres.
The public can access Syabas' website, www.syabas.com.my, for further information on the water rationing plan. – Bernama
