Car catches fire after ramming electricity pole

    GEORGE TOWN: A car rammed an electricity pole along the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway here last night and burst into flames, police said today.
    North-East District Police acting chief Supt Ismail Idris said today the driver, a suspected immigrant, and a woman who was with him in the Proton Saga car, fled when the vehicle caught fire in the 11.30pm incident.
    "We are trying to establish why they ran away," he said.
    A spokesman of the Jalan Perak Fire and Rescue Service said more than 80% of the car was destroyed.
    Six firemen who rushed to the scene in a truck put out the fire in 10 minutes, he said. – Bernama
