HER small body was found stuffed in a sports bag – 28 days after her abduction. A cucumber and a brinjal were found stuffed inside her genitals and her rectum had ruptured.

Pathologists estimated she had died about six hours before the discovery of her body – meaning she had been in the hands of the monster or monsters that had violated her for four whole weeks.

"THE Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) is not independent!" Such utterances may be considered common when made by opposition politicians and NGO types, as the public perception of the anti-graft body had never been very good.
But when this statement was uttered at a public lecture at Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2001, many jaws, including mine, dropped in disbelief.

PEOPLE ask me if we can expect to see more law-abiding drivers now that the Automatic Enforcement System (AES) has been implemented. I think that although some motorists may be more cautious for fear of being caught on camera, for now, the impact of the AES is still negligible.

IT HAD struck me as unusual ... that the "shari" (vinegared rice) of the sushi I had picked up from the sushi bar was turning reddish. But having just witnessed the cutting up of a giant 100kg tuna by a sushi chef, I thought perhaps the "neta", the ingredient on the "shari" which together makes up sushi, may have been a bit bloody because the tuna was freshly cut.

TWO weeks ago, an executive taxi driver was fined RM1,000 for over-charging his passengers. He had charged a couple from Britain RM459.20 for a ride from KLCC in Jalan Ampang to a hotel in Jalan Imbi, Kuala Lumpur.

EARLIER this month, cosmetics entrepreneur Nor Zaina Abdul Ghani aka Datin Ira Ghani reportedly lost about RM500,000 when two of her maids absconded with cash, luxury watches, and other jewellery from her home.

The maids who had worked for her for over a year and whom she claimed she treated like family, apparently went missing while she was visiting Singapore.
