A white multipurpose vehicle ignores the red light and speeds across the intersection in blatant disregard for traffic laws at Dataran Merdeka on Monday, April 16, 2012. For the safety of themselves and others, motorists should be responsible drivers, and like the cab driver in the photo, always know that red means stop.

THE sight of cars running a red light on busy thoroughfares are becoming all too common – an uncomfortable – a sight. Despite warnings and reminders, motorists continue to flout traffic laws as this picture taken at Jalan SS 16/1 near Subang Parade in Subang Jaya on Oct 30, 2011 shows.
THE Jalan Sultan Ismail-Jalan Raja Laut junction near the Sime Darby building is one of the busiest in Kuala Lumpur. It is often heavily congested, especially during peak hours. It can be a frustrating experience to motorists, who have to wait patiently to inch across.
THE sight of cars beating the red light may have become a common sight, as this picture taken at Jalan Ampang (near Ampang Park) on the afternoon of Oct 12 proves, but in case of any doubt, it is neither legal nor clever to drive through red lights.
The drivers of both these cars probably don’t give a hoot for the consequences of their action.
RECKLESS ... Perhaps this motorist thinks rules are made to be broken, especially on a Sunday when traffic is lighter than weekdays, as he carelessly beats the red light at Jalan Ipoh. The meaning of the phrase “red means stop” still eludes many, it appears.
GETTING to your destination on time is well and good, but these two buses threw caution to the wind when they raced past the red light in Batu 5, Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur at noon on Sunday, Aug 14, 2011.
The reckless action of the drivers put people who use the pedestrian crossing on this busy road in harm’s way.
SOME NEVER LEARN ... A motorist jumps the light on the afternoon of June 12, 2011, near the MCIS Zurich building on Jalan Barat, Petaling Jaya. The basic road rule – Red means Stop – appears to fall on many a deaf ear, despite the increasing number of road accidents and fatalities.
