I REFER to reports published in online versions of newspapers on a group of retired armed forces personnel holding “butt exercises” in front of the house of Bersih co-chairman Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan, and have this to say to her.

Dear Datuk Ambiga,

I write to let you know that, as a Malaysian citizen, I am deeply ashamed of recent behaviour directed at you personally.

I AM chief trainer at the Westerwald Kennel and have attended dog training in Germany. With regard to the recent dog attack which killed a jogger, there have been many comments on breed, training of the dog etc. But many fail to realise that dogs are animals without a reasoning faculty.

I WAS rather sad and disappointed to read in “MISC cuts 1,400 jobs” (Sunbiz, May 2) the company’s statement that a reasonable severance package had been extended to staff affected by its exit from the liner business.

Monopolies don’t favour consumer

WITH reference to your many reports on the MAS-AirAsia share swap, it is indeed a great relief to air passengers that the swap deal that was initiated in August last year has finally been cancelled.

The deal creates a monopolistic situation especially in respect of domestic flights. In any economy, a monopolistic industry is not favourable to the consumer.

I READ with a heavy heart “MISC cuts 1,400 jobs” (Sunbiz, May 2) and am appalled at the company’s statement.

MISC maintains an international standing reaching the far ends of the globe. In its recent exit from the liner business, which was very sudden and shocking to liner staff, the company exercised “forced retrenchment”.

My personal experience with an architect in a condominium project in Penang clearly demonstrates how the architect prematurely certified the completion stages on several occasions.

THE elderly jogger being attacked by a dog is a tragedy waiting to happen in many housing estates because of irresponsible dog owners – what a way to die and at that age.

Taman Rasah in Seremban where I stay is so full of loose dogs that one is afraid to walk around alone – and not all are strays.

I REFER to “More single men than women in Malaysia” (May 8), where it was reported that 2.5 million Malaysians are unmarried, of which 60.4% are men.

I am one of these and at 65 years, with many debilitating illnesses. I do not own a home and have not been successful in renting a low-cost government flat.
