KAJANG, situated strategically within 30 minutes by road to KLIA and Kuala Lumpur and 20 minutes to Putrajaya, is poised to grow as more people move into the town.

This means more development, traffic jams, and the loss of green lungs and cover.

The town council needs to:

Provide more playing fields as the town padang is congested with users.

IT is telling that Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi told Johor Umno on July 7 that Barisan National candidates for GE 14 must be both "winnable and likeable".

This is a strong but unclear message to BN political leaders. What is unclear is that, if the candidates are winnable, they will most probably be, also "likeable".

THE single stream system argued in "Let civil servants take the lead" (My View, July 5) is just that. There is no assumption on what medium of instruction it should be based on if the "outcome" is unity. The use of "once again" as noted implies that it may be English (or with BM) as pointed out.

IN "Let civil servants take the lead" (My View, July 5) Dzulkifli Abdul Razak refers to the TN50 dialogue with civil servants where a suggestion was made for single stream schools to strengthen unity and how it was shot down.

The writer strongly supports this suggestion "coming from committed professionals who are familiar with the situation on the ground" and who "felt compelled

"PARK right, it's your civic duty" (Local Counsel, July 4) refers. I fully agree with the sentiments but you need prompt enforcement in places like Taman Pekaka, Sungai Dua, Penang to resolve parking woes.

It has been more than two years now that the main road to the Taman has been lined by cars parked on both sides of the main thoroughfare, reducing it to a "single" lane.

I REFER to a news report published on June 30 of a female student in Penang who apparently committed suicide due to pressures of pre-university studies.

Unfortunately, this news was not reported in the English language papers. The deceased who scored 10 As in her SPM exams aspired to be a lawyer.

PENANG Island City Council has cut down trees and cleared much of the plants in Island Glades without informing the residents.

When queried its workers told residents they were only following orders.

The workers came for the first time in early May and cut down the trees in Lorong Delima 9. On May 29, they cut down many plants around a shed.
