Letters - We are what we do, not what we claim to be

A NEWS report with a heading Zakir Naik: I'm a messenger of peace ... caught my eye.

I do hope that Zakir is what he claims to be, but a man of peace does not label others as terrorists.

A man of peace is determined by his actions. The focus should be on lifting up one's community instead of pulling others down through condemnation.

Supremacist views have no place in modern and informed societies. Obsessed about being right only means others must be wrong.

Harping on "We are right, they are wrong" may make the audience feel good but will do nothing to make them better.

The true measure of any great man or society is in helping others, starting from within one's community.

Action speaks louder than words.
