Malay film legend Aziz Sattar dies

KUALA LUMPUR: Malay film legend Datuk Abdul Aziz Sattar (pix), 89, passed away at Kajang Hospital early today following a heart attack.
The actor and comedian, unforgettable in his role in the Bujang Lapuk movie series, died at 2am, according to his daughter, Sandakiah.
Abdul Aziz acted together with the legendary Tan Sri P. Ramlee and the late S. Shamsuddin as the Bujang Lapuk trio in the 1950's.
His remains were brought to his residence in Bandar Tun Hussein Onn, Cheras before burial at the Cheras Perdana Muslim cemetery after Zohor prayers this afternoon.
Meanwhile, Abdul Aziz's demise has been described by Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek as a big loss to the country's entertainment scene.
He said Abdul Aziz was the last renowned actor among the peers of entertainer extraordinaire, the late Tan Sri P. Ramlee.
"I knew him (Abdul Aziz) personally and he had given me a lot of ideas.
"I am sad because I am not in the country at the moment to pay him my last respects, as I am in Jeddah to attend the Asia Media Summit 2014," he said in a statement to Bernama from the Saudi Arabian city. – Bernama
