Two workers trapped under wet concrete at Putra Heights LRT site

SUBANG JAYA: Two workers, believed to be Bangladesh nationals, were trapped under liquid concrete during a construction work at the Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) Depot of the Ampang (AMG) LRT Extension Project worksite at Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru, Putra Heights.
The 4.20pm incident occured when the workers were doing the concreting of the deck slab when the formwork and scaffolding collapsed.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Assistant Director of Operation Mohd Sani Harul said that there were eight workers at the site during the incident.
"Four of the workers were sent to the Putrajaya hospital. They sustained minor injuries. Another two workers were sent to a private clinic," he told reporters when met at the scene.
The two who are trapped have been identified as Md Rasidul Islam and Md Suman Mollah.
He also said that the Fire and Rescue department received a distress call at about 4.29pm.
"Fire engines from Subang Jaya and Puchong fire station, as well as Special Tactical Operation Rescue Malaysia Team from Shah Alam, were deployed following the call," he said.
Sani said the search and rescue operations to extract the trapped victims are ongoing.
"We expect the rescue work to be done in four hours," he said.
Prasarana in a statement confirmed the incident.
