PETALING JAYA: Maybank Investment Bank (Maybank IB) was named Best Investment Bank in Malaysia at the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2015 and Best Domestic Equity House in Malaysia by Asiamoney's Best Domestic Bank Awards. According to Euromoney, Maybank IB boosted its revenues in a period when others fell back. It said that the bank's particularly strong showings in equity capital markets and debt capital markets were backed up by a decent performance in merger and acquisition. Meanwhile, Asiamoney noted the bank's improvement in market share of primary equity capital markets activity in Malaysia as overall volumes stayed flat. "It doubled its roster of deals over the period, to 14, while also increasing its market share to 17% from 11.5%," said Asiamoney. "We are extremely honoured to receive these awards and would like to thank our clients for their continued support and trust in us. This recognition reaffirms our belief that consistent, long-term growth comes from building sustainable relationships with our clients by continuing to deliver the best for them," said Maybank IB CEO John Chong. The Euromoney Awards for Excellence combines quantitative data with informed and important subjective judgements while Asiamoney's Best Domestic Bank Awards is based on a mix of internal research and recommendations from industry experts such as analysts and fund managers.
