PETALING JAYA: Malaysia Airlines (MAS) will not be flying any of the MH370 next-of-kin to Reunion Island or anywhere else the debris of the ill-fated flight are suspected to be found.
"There is no legal requirement for Malaysia Airlines (MAS) to send MH370 next-of-kin to Reunion Island or anywhere else where the debris are suspected to be found," a MAS spokesperson told theSun.
She however asserted that MAS and the Malaysian government will send investigation teams to those locations for the search and investigation process as well as work closely with the local authorities.
On Wednesday, Australia's Joint Coordinator Agency Centre (JACC) issued a statement confirming that the flaperon found in Reunion Island on July 29 was from the missing MH370.
The statement also stated that any additional debris that is found will be examined to determine if it too can be linked to MH370.
On Aug 6, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak had announced to a packed press conference in the wee hours of the morning that the flaperon found on Reunion Island was from MH370.
MH370 was on a routine flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing when it disappeared on March 8 last year with 239 passengers and crew on board.
Najib's announcement, however, was not well received by the MH370 family members as they did not accept the Malaysian government's declaration that the flaperon was from MH370 until more "conclusive and definite" analysis was completed.
