Appeals court judge heads 68 recipients of Kedah awards

ALOR STAR: Court of Appeal Judge of the Federal Court, Datuk Aziah Ali headed the list of 68 recipients of state awards in conjunction with the 88th Birthday Anniversary of the Sultan of Kedah, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'Adzam Shah today.

She and the Senior Deputy Secretary-General of the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Othman Mahmood were conferred the Darjah Gemilang Seri Mahkota Kedah Yang Amat Dihormati (DGMK) which carries the title Datuk Wira.

Meanwhile, Deputy Education Minister P Kamalanathan received the Datuk Paduka Mahkota Kedah (DPMK) which carries the title Datuk together with three other recipients.

The other three were Syariah Chief Judge of the Kedah Syariah Judiciary Department Syeikh Abdul Rahman Abdullah, Kedah Police Chief Datuk Zamri Yahya and a Member of the Board of Trustees of the Kuala Lumpur Foundation To Criminalise War (KLFCW) Prof Salleh Buang.

There were 45 recipients of the Darjah Datuk Setia Diraja Kedah (DSDK) which carries the title Datuk, including the State Education Director, Datin Azuyah Hassan and two Kedah Exco members, Aminuddin Omar and Datuk Mohd Tajuddin Abdullah.
The other recipients were the Kedah State Legal Advisor Nor'Azura Mohamed Zohdi, Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Management) of the Langkawi Development Authority Rozaina Datuk Paduka Radzi, Kulim District Officer Md Zuki Siru, Sik District Officer Mohd Zohdi Saad, Infantry Directorate of the Army Headquarters Brig Jen Datuk Azlan Abd Rahman; Commandant of the TUDM College Kepala Batas Brig Jen Datuk Johnny Loh Kok Kong; Commandant of the 6th Brigade Headquarters, Sungai Layar 6th Brigade Camp Sungai Petani, Brig Jen Mardzuki Muhammad, Deputy Secretary-General (Management) of the Health Ministry Saiful Anuar Lebai Hussen, Manpower Department Director-General Chin Phaik Yoong, Deputy Chief Commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Datuk Mohd Jamidan Abdullah, Director of the Public Works Department Kedah Samsudin Bakar.

Other recipients of the DSDK were the Director-General of the Malaysian Tourism Promotion Board Datuk Mirza Mohammad Taiyab Beg Mirza, Secretary of Education Development, Ministry of Education Khalid Abu Bakar, Director of Inspectorate and Suprevision 2 of the Attorney-General's Chamber Azizah Mahamud, Director of the Day School Management Division, Education Ministry Abdullah Mad Yunus, Principal Assistant Director of the Dakwah Division, Kedah Islamic Religious Department Syeikh Abdullah Awang Sa; Registrar of the Management and Science University (MSU) Zokrie Othman, Strategic Investment Division Secretary of the Finance Ministry Datuk Ahmad Badri Mohd Zahir, Senior Lecturer of the Counselling Services Study Centre of Kolej Universiti Insaniah (KUIN) Prof Madya Dr Abd Aziz Hanafi, Putra Medical Centre Cardiology Expert Dr Chan Jit Wooi.

Also awarded the DSDK were a lecturer with the Syariah and Islamic Law Academy of Islamic Studies Department of University of Malaya Prof Dr Ahmad Hidayat Buang, Senior Consultant of Anesthesiology of the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care, Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah Dr Md Mortadza Ramli, Kedah Wanita UMNO Information Chief Sharifah Maznah Syed Kassim, Parti Gerakan Rakyat Kedah State Vice-Chairman Tan Po Kiat; Chairman of the Council of Professors of University Malaysia Perlis Prof Dr Ali Yeon Md Shakaff, Quantitative Science Study Centre of Kolej Sastera dan Sains Universiti Utara Malaysia Prof Dr Abdul Razak Saleh, Chief Executive Officer of Vista Property Management (Kulim) Sdn Bhd Chew Chong Teck, Group Chief Executive Officer of N.U.R Power Sdn Bhd (Kulim) Abd Rahim Md Noh; Executive Chairman of EG Industries Berhad (Sungai Petani) Tai Keik Hock, Managing Director of Belleview Group (Penang) Datuk Ho Kiong Chan, President of the Kedah Malaysian Malay Chamber of Commerce Ir Ahmad Fitri Othman, Managing Director of Golden Victory Enterprise Chan Kok Hwa @ Tan Ah Song, Deputy General Manager (Technical) Muda Agricultural Development Authority (MADA) Hor Tek Lip @ Hor Tet Lip.

Other recipients were the Head of the Sports and Games Department of AIMST University S Ananthan, Kedah MCA secretary Ooi Eyan Hian, General Manager of Hotel Bayview Langkawi Lee Kun Seong, Petronas Setapak Mesra Enterprise (Kuala Lumpur) business partner Chong Swee Lim, Managing Director of Mahajaya Berhad (Selangor) Tan Ming Wai, Managing Director of Tenzin Heavy Machinery (Malaysia) Chng Chong Teck; Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Malaysian Marine Heavy Engineering Holdings Berhad Abu Fitri Abdul Jalil, Senior Advisor of Supply Chain Management and Special Liaison Rahim Ismail and former MADA General Manager, the late Md Zuki Ismail.

There were 17 recipients of the Justice of the Peace (JP) including the Executive Chairman of Yayasan Pembangunan Pondok Malaysia Datuk Dr Mashitah Ibrahim, Special Officer to the Kedah Menteri Besar Haris Che Mat, Jeneri State Assemblyman Mahadzir Abd Hamid, Kupang Assemblyman Datuk Harun Abd Aziz, and Director of Kumpulan Kaisar Datuk Seri Norazam Shah Ibrahim.

The Chairman of the Kedah Council of Regency Tan Sri Tunku Sallehuddin Ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah gave away the awards at the Istana Anak Bukit, near here today. – Bernama
