KUALA LUMPUR:Rosoboronexport, Russian state-owned arms trading company, is ready to discuss the prospect of establishing joint and licensed production facilities in Malaysia.
The company, which sold 18 supermanoeuvreable Sukhoi SU-30MKM jet fighters to Malaysia, said its preparedness was part of the prospects for supplying finished products to the country.
Head of Rosoboronexport's Regional Department, Vladimir Ereschenko said the company would discuss with Malaysian partners on the prospect of further deliveries of Russian military products during the four-day exhibition and conference of Defence Services Asia 2016 being held at Putra World Trade Centre, here.
"We pin our greatest hope in the Malaysian market on Sukhoi multi-role fighters, helicopters, air defences and close assault weapons," he said in a statement today.
He said Malaysia is traditionally a very high export potential of Russian weapons.
According to the statement, Rosoboronexport would hold a presentation for Malaysian partners on the Mi-171Sh military transport helicopter, T-90MS tank, BTR-82A armoured personnel carrier vehicle and Pantsir-S1 air defence missile and gun system.
"Particular intention during the exhibition will be given to further improve after-sales service of Russian aircraft operations with the Malaysian Air Force and overhaul of S-30MKM fighters," it said.
Rosoboronexport considers the DSA 2016 as a suitable platform for strengthening ties throughout the whole of the Asia Pacific region. — Bernama
