PETALING JAYA: Gerakan has started to mobilise its election machinery to assist Barisan Nasional (BN) in the upcoming by-elections in Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar. The party's deputy president Datuk Dr Cheah Soon Hai said in a statement today the move was mooted when the party held a coordination meeting which involved leaders from all levels a fortnight ago to discuss about preparations in both constituencies. As such, Gerakan's State Liaison Committee chairmen for Selangor and Perak have briefed the party leadership on the plans and preparations. This is done by collaborating with Gerakan divisions and branches as well as fellow BN component parties in the constituencies, adding that a team of well-experienced and dedicated members have been sent to help during the campaign period that includes publicity and ceramah speakers. "Our party's machinery in both constituencies have already moved out to engage the voters and provide support to the best of our ability. I believe with our best efforts and experiences learned through the Teluk Intan by-election and previous by-elections, we can replicate the previous success," he said.
