Taman Cheras Hartamas residents wants stop-order for high-voltage cable project

KUALA LUMPUR: Residents of Taman Cheras Hartamas here wants the Selangor government to stop implementation of the high-voltage cable project across their area.
Chairman of the residents' association, Lee Song Sin said he feared the project, could jeopardise the residents' safety and health and it was near the residential area.
The residents also claimed the company which carried out the project failed to adhere to the stipulated guidelines on the installation of the cables and had not properly briefed residents.
"The distance stated during a previous briefing is different from what is being carried out, and the target of the electromagnetic ray also does not meet the safe level.
"We want the Selangor government to issue a directive for the project to be stopped immediately," he told reporters here today.
Earlier, more than 200 residents held a peaceful demonstration to protest implementation of the project. — Bernama
