KUALA LUMPUR: Lawyer Datuk Stanley Clement Augustin and his wife Datuk Nika Gee Siew Yee's divorce case management was today fixed for Sept 6 as the latter has just appointed lawyers to represent her.
High Court judge Datuk Siti Mariah Ahmad set the date after the case was mentioned in chambers in the presence of lawyers M. Kumar and S. Periasamy, representing Augustin, and lawyers Choo Dee Wei and Bryan Ng Yih Miin, acting on behalf of Gee.
Met by reporters later, Choo said they were both appointed by Gee yesterday to represent her after her previous counsel withdrew from the case and they had just submitted their memorandum of appearance today as counsel for the respondent.
He said that up to this point, there was no instruction from the court for their client to be present in court for the subsequent proceedings.
In his divorce petition filed in December 2014, Augustin named Gee as the respondent.
Augustin, a former deputy public prosecutor, in his amended divorce petition stated that he and Gee had legally married on April 24, 2007, two days before his retirement from government service.
Augustin, 65, said he was a divorcee with three children when he married Gee, 54, a businesswoman. Gee at the time was a divorcee with two children. — Bernama
