PETALING JAYA: Shoppers at the Kuala Lumpur Sogo Department Store were recently greeted with a rare but unforgettable sight of a bevy of beauties making a special appearance there. Sixty Miss Tourism International 2016 contestants not only took part in an exclusive fashion showcase featuring international brands such as Adidas and Nixon, but also took "sporting" to another level when they performed a flash mob at the store's all new 3rd Floor Fashion Arena. D' Touch International Sdn Bhd, which runs the contest, said aside from the Miss Tourism International crown and other subsidiary titles, the annual Miss KL Sogo Trendsetter title is also up for grabs at the pageant's final set to be held on Dec 31. "The winner (of the Sogo trendsetter title) will walk away with a cash prize of RM1,000, a sash and a trophy," the company said in a statement on Friday. The contestants are set to battle it out for the elusive Miss Tourism International 2016 crown at the world final at Putrajaya Marriot Hotel on new year's eve. KL Sogo is the Gold Sponsor and the official departmental store for the Miss Tourism International 2016, and is in their 14th year supporting the pageant. Malaysia will play host to the Miss Tourism International 2016 World Final, which is in its 19th year, as the only New Year's Eve pageant in the world. The pageant is renowned for its objective to promote tourism, culture and friendship, and is supported by Tourism Malaysia The pageant was founded by Tan Sri Danny Ooi.
