SYARIKAT Prasarana Negara Berhad (Prasarana) marked a significant milestone earlier this month after taking delivery of three rescue trucks from MAN Truck & Bus Malaysia. Costing roughly RM1 million each, the three MAN TGS 33.400 BB-WW 6X4 trucks handed over earlier this month in the RapidBus Cheras Selatan Complex were tailor-made specifically for Prasarana. The trucks will serve as the main rescue and recovery vehicles for the firm's RapidKL and RapidPenang bus fleets. Dubbed as the most sophisticated and largest tow trucks of its kind in the country, each truck is capable of towing up to 90 tonnes. According to Prasarana, the firm's newly acquired rescue trucks is expected to shed the average bus rescue and recovery time by half. The three trucks will also eliminate the need for Prasarana to outsource bus recoveries from third party service providers. Two of the three MAN rescue trucks will serve Prasarana's RapidKL fleet service whilst one has been assigned to solely serve the firm's Penang-based fleet operations.
