Boutique owner charged with cheating over sale of branded handbag

KAJANG: A boutique owner pleaded not guilty in the magistrate's court here today with two counts of cheating, involving the purchase of two branded handbags, costing RM17,500, last year.
On the first count, Noor Shakila Shaari, 30, who also sells branded handbags online, was charged with cheating Candice Ng Wei Lynn, 28, by deceiving the victim to deposit RM9,000 into her (Noor Shakila) Public Bank account for the purchase of a Chanel handbag, which did not exist.
The offence was committed at a house in Taman Cheras Perdana, Cheras, here between Aug 30 and Sept 5 last year.
She was also charged with deceiving Yeoh Cheong, 39, into depositing RM8,500 into her Maybank account for the purchase of a Christian Dior handbag, which did not exist.
This offence was committed at a house in Hulu Langat near here on Aug 14 and Oct 27 last year.
Both the charges were made under Section 420 of the Penal Code, which provides an imprisonment for up to 10 years and whipping and is liable to fine, if found guilty.
Magistrate Fadzilatul Isma Ahmad Refngah allowed Noor Shakila bail of RM9,000 on both charges and fixed May 11 for mention.
