GEORGE TOWN: A man believed to be mentally unstable was apprehended soon after splashing petrol and setting a room on fire in what is believed to be a molotov cocktail incident at the urology unit of a private hospital here today. In the 4.30pm incident, a doctor and five other victims including a Taiwanese were hurt. The victims were aged between their 30s and 50s. According to a Jalan Perak Fire and Rescue Department spokesman, a distress call was received around 4.55pm and its personnel were rushed to the scene. He said the fire was brought under control within 10 minutes by the firemen. The man was also said to have sustained burns on his hands following a scuffle with the victims when the incident took place. "We are trying to determine motive of the incident," Northeast district police chief ACP Che Zaimani Che Awang told media. At press time, the doctor had been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for further treatment while all of the other victims were said to be in stable condition.
