Microsoft to set up data centre in Johor: Sources

    JOHOR BARU: US-based Microsoft Corp will set up a data centre in Sedenak Industry Park near Kulai here this year.
    According to sources, there are still some technical issues regarding the project that need to be ironed before the the widely talked project since 2014 comes to Sedenak this year.
    Sources said the IT giant has already submitted its building plans to the authorities.
    Jimmy Puah Wee Tse, exco for International trade, Investment and utilities portfolio, who made a working visit to Iskandar Regional Development Autrhority (Irda) office today, declined to speak about the project.
    He said the proposed 303.5ha Sedenak Industry Park aims to develop into a data hub.
    "It is better to change the name to data and research hub, to add some selling points for the park to foreign investors," he said.
    He also urged the public to visit the public preview of the Kulai-Sedenak 2025 Special area planning draft which is on display in several places such as Kulai Municipal Council till June 12.
