Movie Review - Despicable Me 3

IN this third instalment of the Despicable Me series of films (fourth counting The Minions), our main protagonist Gru (Carell) and wife Lucy (Wiig) are now full-fledged crime busters.
He manages to get back the world's largest diamond that former child star-turned-villain Balthazar Bratt (Parker) had stolen, but loses the job when Balthazar gets away.
Back home, most of the Minions decide to leave because Gru has no plans to return to his old life of crime.
A mysterious Englishman then shows up at their home and after some initial misunderstanding, reveals that he works for Dru (Carell), Gru's long-lost twin brother. Turns out that Gru's father and mother divorced when they were babies, each taking one twin with them. Gru and his family are flown to Dru's island home where the brothers reunite.
Despite inheriting a great amount of wealth, Dru has always been a disappointment to their father who was a great criminal mastermind, due to his ineptness.
Dru tries to convince Gru to help him and when Gru finds out that Balthazar has stolen the world's largest diamond again, he tricks Dru into stealing it.
The movie has its fun moments but it lacks the warmth of the first two films.
The family element, which was the central theme of the first two, is not captured as well here.
In fact, Gru and the Minions seem to be in their own separate movies, which is a pity, since it is their chemistry which drive the first two films.
