SHARP Electronics (Malaysia) recently celebrated Merdeka Day by launching the My Aquos campaign at its office in Shah Alam. The launch was attended by Sharp Corporation President’s Office head and executive managing officer Yoshihiro Hashimoto, Sharp Electronics Malaysia managing director Robert Wu, as well as other Sharp executives. The event also saw the introduction of Sharp’s new celebrity brand ambassador, local actress Zahirah Macwilson. The My Aquos campaign is meant to highlight Sharp’s made-in-Malaysia products, more specifically the brand’s Aquos LED TVs that are manufactured by Sharp Manufacturing Corporation in Batu Pahat, Johor. Additionally, the campaign also features Sharp’s audio products which are made by S&O Electronics in Sungai Petani, Kedah. Leading the My Aquos campaign is the Sharp Aquos 40in LED TV (LC40SA5100M). Not only has its price been reduced to RM999, but it will also still keep its pre-SST pricing until the end of the campaign on Dec 31. Sharp also announced that it would be contributing RM5 from the sales of each of its made-in-Malaysia products during this campaign to Tabung Harapan. If Tabung Harapan concludes before Dec 31, Sharp will then donate the money to a charitable organisation as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme. Representatives from Sharp at the event also hinted at the new 8K TV coming to Malaysia at the end of the year, and confirmed that the company has plans to bring more of its mobile offerings to the country as well. According to Sharp executives, the My Aquos campaign is an extension of its current My Malaysia My Sharp campaign, which ends on Sept 30. The My Malaysia My Sharp campaign, held in conjunction with the brand’s 33rd anniversary celebrations, offers discounts up to 33% on selected products, as well as purchase-with-purchase promotions and free gifts, and even the chance to drive home a brand-new Perodua Myvi in a lucky draw.
