PKNS Real Estate (PREC) CEO Fakru Radzi Ab Ghani signed a lease agreement with the founder of Headstart Group Khairul Razman Ramly recently, to launch the Headstart Academy at SACC Mall.
At the launch event, child psychologist Katyana Azman, who also serves as an advisor to Headstart Academy, shared about the importance of early screening and assessment for early intervention for children with special needs like autism. In Khairul's opening address, he mentioned that Headstart Academy and its sister arm Headstart Therapy adopts a programme that uses facilities and services which he would want for his own son.
Khairul, who also established Yayasan Khayr Ayden, a foundation that provides support for underprivileged special needs children and their families, explained that the academy is operated in a unique manner where management and employee are partners. Passionate teachers, therapists and staff are empowered to further educate and care for the academy's special needs children.
From the developer's perspective, Fakru enlightened guests on PKNS' part in supporting this project. He informed that education has always been a pillar in PREC's CSR undertakings. "Since it founding in March 2012, PREC has spent over RM11.5 million in annual subsidies and has distributed up to RM100,000 sponsorships in cash and in-kind every year".
Also present to witness the signing of the lease agreement were owners of Saint Clare's School for Special Education Kelvin Ng and Prakalathan Kelaver; founder of Autism Cafe Project Adil Yahya; as well as parents and stakeholders from the special needs community.
