Top student registered, eligible to sit for SPM exam

PETALING JAYA: A top student, who made the news for purportedly being unable to sit for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination, has been registered for it.
The Education Ministry announced that Nurul Syuhada's examination slip had been issued by the Malaysian Examinations Syndicate.
"There is no issue with the student of Cambodian descent sitting for the exam," the ministry said in a statement today.
"An identification number will be generated for students who do not have an identity card for registration purposes. During the examination, the candidate could submit any document of identification to the head invigilator of the examination such as a passport, driving licence or the 'Borang LP / Am 118-Borang Pengenalan Diri Calon' which is prepared by the school."
The ministry said her school had a meeting with Nurul Syuhada and her guardian to explain that she is eligible for the exam which will begin on Tuesday.
Nurul Syuhada, whose parents were Cambodian, was earlier reported to be ineligible to sit for the exam, as she is not a Malaysian citizen.
