PHOTOGRAPHS and a video of Mr Bean, a character played by actor Rowan Atkinson, entertaining school children in Miri, Sarawak recently went viral.
Some fans were under the impression that the 62-year-old British comedian himself had flown to our shores to put a smile on the children's faces.
Many were fooled as the man in those photographs were actually Faiket Luari, Malaysia's own Mr Bean, who posed as an impersonator to 1,000 pupils and teachers of SK Sri Mawar and SJK Chung San.
Luari, who is an Albanian but married to a Sarawakian woman, Olivia Ho, had been studying the comedians' behaviour and antics on YouTube before impersonating Mr Bean, despite not being a fan of the character.
During his one-hour performance at both schools, The Borneo Post reports: "A total of 306 pupils of SK Sri Mawar who were sitting in the open space of the school compound were glued to their seats as they giggled and laughed throughout."
Many thrilled children requested for his autograph and Luari even showed off his skills drawing caricatures of Mr Bean for them.
Mr Bean's appearance was made possible by Sarawak Convention Bureau in collaboration with MCC as part of its outreach project and corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme with the support of non-governmental organisation – The Giving Bank and Minda Travel.
