PETALING JAYA: Bakri MP Yeo Bee Yin, the youngest female minister in the cabinet of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, is the Energy, Green Technology, Science, Climate Change and Environment Minister. Yeo, 35, is also Pakatan Harapan Youth vice chairman and is DAP's National Assistant Publicity Secretary. Yeo made her mark at 29 when she contested for the first time in the 13th General Election and was elected as Damansara Utama state assemblyman. This made her the youngest member of Selangor's State Legislative Assembly. She won the seat with 30,689 majority. In the 14th General Election, she returned to her home state in Johor and won with 23,211 majority - the highest majority ever achieved in the parliamentary constituency. An engineer by training, Yeo graduated from University Technology Petronas with a first-class honours degree in Bachelor of Chemical Engineering and University of Cambridge, UK with Commendation in MPhil. in Advanced Chemical Engineering. She was also a recipient of the prestigious Gates Cambridge Scholarship for her post-graduate studies.
