KUALA LUMPUR: London-based crypto exchange company Luno and e-commerce platform Shopee Malaysia have formed a partnership to offer Malaysians access to deals, discounts, and vouchers on Shopee to purchase and convert into cryptocurrencies.
In a statement, Luno said it intends to leverage Shopee’s large user base to attract new customers by offering a RM15 bitcoin voucher at only RM1, along with other attractive vouchers available on Luno’s official store on Shopee.
It said the Chinese New Year (CNY) promotion will run on Shopee until Feb 10, 2020 and include voucher deals as low as RM0.88.
“Additionally, and as part of the CNY celebration, Luno is offering discounted trading fees, lowered 0.2 per cent for all customers until March 31, 2020,” it said.
Luno Malaysia country manager Aaron Tang said being a Securities Commission-regulated crypto exchange platform allows the company to explore new ways of expanding access to crypto for users in Malaysia.
“We expect this effort to drive massive awareness and adoption, making it easy for users on Shopee to access crypto and begin their investment journey,” he said.
Kenneth Soh, head of Shopee Mall, Shopee Malaysia, said one of the key reasons Shopee has been able to stay ahead is because the company strives to make its product assortment wide and accessible to all.
“In 2019, Shopee enabled the purchase of properties, cars, food and beverages deals and more on our platform, while in January 2020, we are now giving our users the opportunity to try their hands at crypto currency through this collaboration with Luno,” he said. -Bernama
