Margma prepared to increase production amid coronavirus spread

KUALA LUMPUR; The Malaysian Rubber Glove Manufacturers Association (Margma) says its members are prepared to gear up glove production to meet requirements if the coronavirus outbreak becomes a pandemic.

Its president Denis Low (pix) said with the coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan, China having spread to more than nine countries, the demand for medical gloves would spike.

He added that during the H1N1 pandemic in 2009, medical glove consumption grew by 17 per cent.

“Taking a lesson from the H1N1 virus and the notion that the coronavirus can be much worse, the rubber glove industry will certainly ramp up production to meet the demand,” he said in a statement today. -Bernama
