PETALING JAYA: T7 Global Bhd’s mobile offshore production unit (MOPU) slated to be deployed in Sarawak’s Bayan Redevelopment Project Gas Phase 2 upon completion in 2022, has reached its second construction milestone as it entered the keel laying process in Qingdao, China.

Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd is the MOPU owner of the project and T7’s wholly owned subsidiary Tanjung Offshore Services Sdn Bhd is responsible for the engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning as well as the operation and maintenance and decommissioning.

Chairman Datuk Seri Dr Nik Norzrul Thani N Hassan Thani commented that the progress in the project substantiates the decision to expand into the offshore mobile production facility market. He looks forward to the completion of the project whilst boosting its efforts and presence in the energy sector.

“We are positive that all our efforts and initiatives that have been set in place would lead to more opportunities for the group to secure new contracts of similar nature on a global scale. We anticipate our foray into this market to be a significant contributor to T7 Global’s earnings in time to come,” Norzrul said in a statement.

Upon completion, Bayan MOPU will have a gas processing capacity of up to 120 MMSCF/D which will enable Petronas Carigali to boost its gas production from the Bayan field.

In January, the group had secured a 10-year contract from the upstream player for the leasing, operation and maintenance of a MOPU for Phase 2 of the Bayan Gas Redevelopment project.
