PETALING JAYA: Taiwan is one of the key scooter manufacturing countries in the world and its output exceeded U$3.5 billion (RM14.5 billion) in 2019 with 1 million scooters produced each year in Taiwan.

In recent years, Taiwan’s scooter companies have upgraded their products to emphasise quality, environmental sustainability and have become well known for their heavy duty models, all-terrain vehicles and electric scooters.

“With a small population of 23.5 million people, Taiwan’s domestic demand for motorcycle and its backbone industry makes Taiwan a leader in the world’s top 10 market,” said Taiwan External Trade Development Council executive vice president Simon Wang at the Taiwan Excellence Scooter Industry Online Showcase yesterday.

The online event which attracted about 120 international buyers and 22 industrial media was organised by Taiwan Excellence, an international campaign to promote Taiwan’s superior products. It featured four award-winning Taiwanese scooter and parts companies Aeon Motor, Giant Protech, A Man Power Transmission and Motive Power Industry.

Aeon Motor is a scooter manufacturer with 23 years of experience. It became the first automotive manufacturer in the PBGN alliance to research and develop frames autonomously. It unveiled its first electric scooter, the Ai-1 Sport in 2019 and currently announced the new Ai-3 series. Its Ai-3 comfort+ comes with four colours and the Croxera smart meter. Its "one-click navigation to the station to change the power" function makes the motorcycle more user-friendly. There is no need to use the mobile phone along the way.

Giant Protech is a Taiwanese company that manufacturers high quality rims & parts, bolts, nuts, springs, forged wheel, titanium bolt, CNC aluminium tire valve, aluminium washer. Its two-piece patent forged wheel rim is a new concept not seen in the scooter industry before. Designed via 3D modeling and simulation, the wheels are made with aerospace grade aluminum, making them lightweight yet strong. The two-piece wheel rims can be divided into “wheel rim” and “hub” by separating R&D. They enhance selectivity for different types of motorcycle. No matter if it’s after-sales service or maintenance, you just need to replace the broken parts and save on resources.

A Man Power Transmission (AM) specialises in bicycle chain production. AM has annual production of more than 150,000,000 meter and has been marketing its products through professional distribution networks in different parts of the world to more than 130 countries. Its high-density plasma ceramic coating technology (HDPCCT) on the basis of keeping balance between environment protection and product quality. With brilliant appearance and good metallic luster texture, it satisfies the mechanical functions and appearances at the same time. This technology won the Red Dot Design Award and Taiwan Golden Torch Award in 2018.

Motive Power Industry is a leading motorcycle, buggy and scooter manufacturer and exporter in Taiwan for over 30 years. A total of 55 award-winning Taiwan Excellence products from 27 leading companies are exhibited in the virtual pavilion.
