14 new Covid-19 cases reported today: Health Ministry

PETALING JAYA: The number of Covid-19 infections continues to creep up at a moderate pace.

A total of 14 new cases were recorded as of noon today, bringing the number of infections in the country to 8,999.

This is the second day in a row when there were no fatalities. This leaves the death toll at 125.

In a statement issued today, health director-general Datuk Seri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said of the new cases, 13 were infected locally.

“Eleven of them are from the PUI Sivagangga cluster and two cases, from Sabah.”

The remaining case is that of a foreigner who had come to Malaysia from the Philippines, he added.

Noor Hisham said 17 of those infected have recovered and were discharged from the hospital today, bringing the number of patients who have recovered to 8,664.

“However, there is still a total of 210 active Covid-19 cases in Malaysia. Of those still undergoing treatment, two are in intensive care and one of them still needs a ventilator to help him breathe.”
