New Elegan 250 with ABS launched

MODENAS today launched the ABS (anti-lock braking system) variant of the Modenas Elegan 250 maxi-scooter, priced at RM15,315, making it the most value-for-money scooter in its segment.

Based on the current (non-ABS) version of the Elegan 250 Modenas launched exactly four years ago, the new maxi-scooter variant gets a Bosch dual-channel ABS that prevents the wheels from locking up and provides superior stopping power in all weather conditions.

The company said while the look and feel of the new Modenas Elegan 250 with ABS may not differ too much from its predecessor (that non-ABS version), this variant offers a number of upgrades.

The new Modenas Elegan 250 ABS comes with a fuel injected, four-stroke and single-cylinder, single overhead-camshaft 250cc engine that produces a maximum power of 22.2hp @ 7,000rpm and 22.4Nm @ 6,500 rpm of torque.

It has a liquid cooling system for improved cooling performance, providing its engine with better protection and longer durability.

The ABS variant also offers a multi-functional digital speedometer that does not compromise on visibility of information and plus, some of these features are unavailable for even higher-priced competitors such as, tripmeter, digital clock, battery voltage indicator and especially the oil service reminder for visual convenience.

Other features include a USB charger socket strategically fitted near the handlebar, “a more refined and stylish” projector headlamp with LED daytime running light (DRL) and a large storage compartment big enough to fit two helmets or other things.

There are two colours – Satin Matte Red (pix) and Satin Matte Black. The maxi scooter is already available at all Modenas authorised dealers from this month.

Modenas CEO Roslan Roskan is confident that it will make an impact in the local motorcycle market. He is also optimistic about Modenas’ business performance amidst the current pandemic.

“The launch of the ABS variant of the Modenas Elegan 250 provides Malaysian customers with more choices especially in the maxi-scooter segment.

“ABS is increasingly becoming one of the most important and useful safety features in the motorcycle world, and coupled with the variant’s other enhancements, I am confident that it will prove to be a success in the market.

“While the Covid-19 situation remains uncertain in the country, Modenas has been working hard over the past months to make up for lost time due to the various disruptions as a result of the pandemic.

“However, we are planning for more launches which we believe will help us end the year on a stronger footing.”
