502 nabbed for flouting SOPs

PETALING JAYA: Police nabbed a total of 502 offenders for flouting the standard operating procedures (SOPs) with 40 individuals still attempting to cross borders (districts and states) yesterday.

Out of the 502, a total of 470 were issued compounds while the rest were remanded.

“Of those, 204 individuals did not adhere to social distancing, 99 did not wear face masks, 63 premises operated beyond permitted hours, 55 premises/individuals failed to provide customers with registration books or QR code to record entry, 40 travelled to other districts or states and the remaining had violated other SOPs,” Senior Minister (Defence) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pix) said in a statement today.

Apart from that, a total of 38 illegal immigrants and two suspected smugglers were detained as well as eight land vehicles were confiscated yesterday during the Ops Benteng operations against illegal immigration.

As for returnees, he said a total of 66,823 individuals had returned to the country between July 24 and Nov 13 and to date 388 individuals have been sent to hospitals for treatment while 9,569 are going through the mandatory 14-day quarantine period at designated centres.

To date, a total of 56,866 individuals were allowed to go home after undergoing the mandatory 14-day quarantine.
