KUALA LUMPUR: An actor holding a Datuk title lodged a police report today after allegedly being cheated by a man over a City Hall cleaning contract.
Sentul police chief ACP Beh Eng Lai said the 26-year-old suspect who allegedly fleeced the victim was arrested for investigations.
He said the suspect, who claimed to be a Datuk Seri, had offered to secure a City Hall tender for cleaning work and sought a 1% collateral of the contract’s worth.
Beh said the victim agreed to the arrangement and transferred RM18,100 to the suspect’s bank account.
He said after the payment was made , the suspect began evading the victim until he was no longer reachable.
Beh said the suspect who is in police custody is being investigated for cheating under Section 420 of the Penal Code.
