Canadians and Germans are getting RM24k, while Malaysian ‘bujangs’ get RM500: Numan

PETALING JAYA: Activist Numan Afifi (pix) today made a comparison on Twitter concerning the difference between benefits received by Canadians and Germans with Malaysia.

“Canada and Germany gave ±RM24,000 per person, meanwhile Malaysians get RM500-800 for bujang. We deserve more,” Numan tweeted.

Last Friday, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Hassan announced a stimulus package aimed at easing the burden of many segments of the Malaysian populace; and the package included RM500 to RM800 cash handouts for bachelors earning a certain amount.

These type of welfare-based policies seems to be the norm in many countries which are fighting the Covid-19 pandemic. For example, Canada announced payments of up to RM6000 for four months to those who have been unemployed because of the crisis.
