Covid-19: Two deaths, 1,114 new cases

PETALING JAYA: The Health Ministry (MoH) reported a total of 1,114 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours with two deaths in Sabah today.

This brings the national tally to 46,209 with 12,131 active cases and the death toll increased to 306.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in his press statement that of the 1,114 cases, Sabah continues to record the highest number among other states with 391 cases.

This was followed by Negri Sembilan with 371 cases where 363 were from the Cergas cluster.

He said out of the 1,114 csses, two were imported, where one of them is from Indonesia (detected in Selangor) and one from Jordan, reported in Sarawak.

Apart from Sabah and Negri Sembilan, Selangor recorded a total of 199 cases , Perak with 53, Penang 34 , Kuala Lumpur 13, Johor 15, Kedah had 10, Labuan recorded eight cases, Malacca with six, Kelantan with five, Sarawak with three , and Putrajaya four cases.

Noor Hisham said the death cases involved a 78-year old woman who died in Queen Elizabeth hospital and had osteoarthritis, while another 51-year old man also died in the same hospital in which he had high blood pressure, diabetes, and a chronic kidney problem.

MoH also reported another four new clusters today, namely the Istimewa cluster and Alila clusters in Sabah, Rajawali as well as Assumption cluster in Penang.

To date, a total of two clusters, Bah Lunas in Kedah and Bah Bemban in Terengganu and Sabah, had ended their observation period.

Meanwhile, a total of 103 patients are in the Intensive Care Units with 43 of them requiring ventilator assistance.

Noor Hisham said a total of 803 individuals had been discharged , thus bringing the total number of recoveries to 33,772.
