KUALA LUMPUR: The government has declared July 30 as an additional public holiday in conjunction with the installation of Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Chief Secretary to the Government Datuk Seri Dr Ismail Bakar in a statement here today said the declaration of the additional public holiday was made based on Section 8 of the Public Holidays Act 1951 (Act 369) for Peninsular Malaysia and the Federal Territory of Labuan.

“For Sabah and Sarawak, action will be taken by the respective state governments according to their own state constitutions,” he said. — Bernama
