Raising anti-drug awareness through smart applications, learning games

SEREMBAN: Interactive Drug Prevention Education Through Smart Applications and Learning Games was among the six topics presented during the Negri Sembilan 2nd Anti-Drug Action Council Meeting today.

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun (pix) said the Interactive Drug Prevention Education Through Smart Applications using augmented reality technology and monopoly board game was developed by researchers from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia and Mara Poly-Tech College in Batu Pahat, Johor.

“The move is to expose young people from the preschools stage on the danger of drugs, in a more interactive form.

“This is a new innovation that should be celebrated and though it is still at the experimental stage, it is already being adopted at several kindergartens, primary and secondary schools.

“Hopefully there will be more innovations to help create awareness on the drug menace among the public,” he told a press conference after the Anti-Drug Action Council Meeting here today.

Aminuddin said apart from this initiative other topics that were presented at the meeting were on the Drug Prevention Education Programme at the Perpaduan Preschools; Drug-Free Housing Programme pilot project and implementation of the Bina Harapan 2.0 Camp.

“In addition we also discussed on the Anti-Drug campaign at six Negri Sembilan mosques where areas around Paroi, Seremban, Senawang, Rahang and Sikamat have been identified as high risk with a total of 515 people under surveillance.

He added that all these initiatives were in line with the vision and mission of the National Anti-Drug Agency to empower the community by cultivating a sense of unity in addressing drug-related issues at grassroots level. — Bernama
