KUALA LUMPUR: Umno and PAS will continue to work together despite the criticisms coming from Pakatan Harapan about their political pact.

Wanita Umno chief Datuk Noraini Ahmad said Pakatan Harapan’s criticisms towards the pact formed between Umno and PAS is a form of provocation so that they will not succeed.

“However, this is only the beginning. They may try to paint us, the opposition, in a negative light, but we can show that we are a credible opposition,“ she told a press conference after the gathering of the women’s wing between PAS and Umno at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) today.

She also said the current focus is for Umno and PAS to continue cooperating with each other politically, and this is the best time to do so.

She also urged PH to not be obsessed with the Prime Minister candidate from the opposition.

“This is encouragement for us to move forward ... as for who will be the leader if we do capture majority seats, we will let the party leadership decide on it,“ she said.

Meanwhile, PAS Muslimat (Women’s wing) chief Nuridah Mohd Salleh said the joint pact between the two parties is based on principles.

“It is a good move forward for PAS and Umno and we will further strengthen our cooperation after the charter is signed tomorrow,“ she said at the press conference today.

She also said those who think it is weird for PAS and Umno to work together do not know much of the history between the two parties.

“We are like brothers and we may occasionally have arguments; but we will always patch things up and have discussions in the end,“ she said.
